Miniatures are an awesome addition to any game, be sure to check these durable, budget-friendly miniatures made by Arcknight!
We all love miniatures (I mean, who doesn’t?), but they have some disadvantages that prevent us from buying TONS of them 🙁
Let’s face it, miniatures are expensive (especially big ones like dragons or beholders!), a pain in the butt to store carefully (when you have more than 200, like me), and they’re not well-known for being “portable”.
There are many companies that produce miniatures for D&D or Pathfinder. Today, I’ll talk about the newest miniatures that Arcknight has released: Pirates, and my experience using them.
What is Arcknight?
Arcknight is a 2-man hobby-turned-business that creates awesome, innovative & high-quality roleplaying games products.
If you have read my Valentine’s Day Gift Guide then you already know about the quality of their products.
Their company started with a successful Kickstarter in 2013 that got funded for $17K and after that, they’ve made 6 more Kickstarter campaigns!
BUT, let me tell you
They’re NOT your typical RPG accessory company. They specialize in double-sided-transparent-plastic-printing (which is something unique, to be honest).
If you want to read more about the company and other things they make and sell (maps, spell templates, etc) be sure to check out my other reviews: Arcknight Maps & Arcknight Spell Effect Templates.
Flat Plastic Miniatures
Arcknight sells affordable, beautiful, high-quality plastic products. They have a secret method to print images on plastic and cut them to get, as a result, perfect details on all of their products.
Their miniatures are called Flat Plastic Miniatures (FPM) which is an upgraded version of the Pathfinder’s Pawns. You get a lot of miniatures with a really high detail and affordable price!
As soon as I saw them, Pathfinder’s Pawns came to mind. However, Arcknight miniatures are cheaper and provide better quality, the transparent bases and plastic are just great (compared to the white background that Pathfinder pawns have).
From now on, I’ll refer to Arcknight miniatures as the perfect replacement for Pathfinder Pawns (if you’re still using them!)
They even designed a Starter Set especially for Dungeon Masters, curated by SlyFlourish!

Pirates, ahoy!
I had the chance to buy their latest miniature pack: Pirates, which fitted my game perfectly (since I’m running a campaign where one of the main towns is located in the middle of a big water source – like Esgaroth).
This is my first time getting miniatures from them (I’ve purchased a map set and a spell template set before) and I was really surprised when I got them.
The Pirates miniature pack includes 62 sturdy plastic miniatures that come in a plastic bag and in pre-cut transparent plastic sheets with also 8 round transparent plastic bases.
To start using them, you just pop them out of the plastic sheet and press the mini into the plastic base. Easy peasy.
62 Miniatures included (click to read the full product description):
- Pirates
- Captains
- Swashbucklers
- Cooks
- Cannoneers
- Fish-people
- Sharks & dolphins
- Much more!
One thing I love about this minis is the fact that they are SUPER PORTABLE. They pack flat so they can be easily stored and transported. You can remove their base and reuse it with another miniature whenever you want.
However, if you want additional bases, you’ll have to purchase extra base packs.
Oh, and by the way, if you like the Pirate-Ship maps that I used to take the pictures, here’s a link to them!
Final Verdict

Arcknight, as usual, sells super durable and innovative products and accessories, that’s why I give them 5/5 stars. If you’re looking to get tons of miniatures that are both portable AND affordable, this is the perfect product for you.
- Performance: 4/5 – Their performance is excellent, they’re easy to store and transport. I just don’t like the fact that 62 minis come with only 8 bases, but if you already have more bases or have purchased Arcknight miniatures before, this is perfect.
- Price-Value Ratio: 5/5 – 62 miniatures for $30? ($0.48 per mini) SIGN ME UP!
- Product Quality: 5/5 – Sturdy transparent plastic that’s printed on both sides and has great image detail. What else can you ask?
